Loren Sokolow

CFO, Psomas

Loren became an EFCG External Consultant after 18 years as the CFO of Psomas, an employee-owned civil engineering, survey, construction management and environmental firm. Psomas is the largest survey firm in the Western United States.


Loren acquired and integrated 12 firms while at Psomas. He has successfully implemented process improvements to streamline operations, improve cash flow and improve both top-line and bottom-line results. At Psomas, Loren handled multiple ESOP tranches and repurchase obligations associated with three management transitions, while not borrowing on the firm’s line of credit in over 18 years.


Prior to joining Psomas, Loren managed multiple divestitures of wholly-owned subsidiaries of large corporations, establishing the newly formed organizations as self-sufficient, profitable, operating entities.


Loren received the ACEC’s “Distinguished Service Award” to recognize his role as co-chair of the ACEC Finance Forum for twelve years. Additionally, Loren was recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal with their “Lifetime Achievement Award”.


He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc., (ECT) an employee-owned (ESOP) environmental engineering firm, where he serves as chair of their Audit & Finance Committee. He is presently chair of KBA, Inc., an employee-owned (ESOP) construction management firm. Loren also serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors of Helix Environmental Planning, an employee-owned (ESOP) environmental engineering firm.


He holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Masters Degree from San Diego State University. He is a certified Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP).
