April 10, 2025 – The Environmental Financial Consulting Group (EFCG) is proud to announce that Verdantas’ Chief Financial Officer Pat Sheridan has been awarded EFCG’s prestigious “CFO of the Year” Award.
Mr. Sheridan was presented with the award at EFCG’s 25th Annual CFO Conference, which took place in Irving, Texas from April 9–11, 2025. Each year, the conference brings together 150+ financial leaders across the Architecture, Engineering, and Consulting (AEC) Industry to discuss EFCG’s first look at the industry’s performance on a variety of business metrics and engage on the biggest financial and strategic challenges CFOs are focused on today.
This distinguished honor recognizes Pat Sheridan for his outstanding financial leadership, strategic growth initiatives, exceptional financial stewardship, and innovation within the AEC industry. Past recipients include Rich Schrader (Parsons Brinckerhoff), George Pierson (Kleinfelder), Mike Moran (Golder), Terry Cox (HDR), Tom Bennet (TRC), Craig Denson (HNTB), Cindy Milrany (Freese and Nichols), Alan Jennat (Arup Americas), Chris Nelson (McKim & Creed), and Theresa Jang (Stantec).
Under Pat’s leadership, Verdantas has achieved remarkable growth, expanding its employee base from approximately 120 in 2020 to over 1,800 team members in just five years. Verdantas has completed more than 30 strategic acquisitions, significantly enhancing its market presence and capabilities. Furthermore, the firm's revenue has grown from $25 million in 2020 and is estimated to reach over $400 million by the end of 2025, a testament to Pat's effective financial strategies and strong leadership.
Pat has also been instrumental in assembling a top-notch finance, legal, and M&A team supporting the operations of the firm and ensuring the successful integration of acquired companies. His efforts have contributed to Verdantas being ranked #113 on the ENR Top 500 Design Firms and #104 on the ENR Top 200 Environmental Firms. The firm has also been recognized by CS Engineer Magazine as one of the best AEC industry firms to work for in 2023 and received the Environmental Business and International's Business Achievement Award for mid-major firms in 2024.
"Pat is a truly strategy-focused CFO who sees opportunity in every challenge. It has been a privilege to work alongside Pat, particularly through the Verdantas recap with Sterling, and through subsequent acquisitions, witnessing firsthand Pat’s goal-first mentality and effective, multi-faceted leadership style. Pat's profound impact on processes, team members, the firm, and the industry is remarkable,” emphasized EFCG Managing Partner, Jessica Zofnass Barclay.
EFCG extends its heartfelt congratulations to Pat Sheridan on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to their continued leadership and contributions to the success of the company and the broader industry.
